38 weeks

During the Dr visit today i had an ultrasound and she checked to make sure that he is head down (he is) and to check different measurements as well as how well the heart is pumping ect. Everything is fine and normal. Hes huge-- 7 lbs although she said that's a guess in regards to his measurements and most of the time, isn't accurate. I haven't gained any weight in 10 days (whoo-hoo) and even though my blood pressure is still on the high side, she didn't seem too worried at this point. She has me checking fetal movement- In a two hour period i need to feel him move at least 10-12 times. I am one centimeter and have lost some of my mucus plug (sorry, I'm sure you wanted to know that) but feel like I've hit a standstill. Only one centimeter? That still means i have 9 more to go and she said she doesn't think I'm yet 50% effaced even though last week they told me i was 70%. I was also hoping he wouldn't be that big but i'm still not even done yet and they say from this point they gain 1/2 lb a week.--Because of my hormones I've cried a lot today. Its okay; i know God is in control.

How your baby's growing:
Your baby has really plumped up. He weighs about 6.8 pounds and he's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). He has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! His organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.

Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If he's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If he's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time he's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after he's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)
