NOT SHOTS!!

Isaac had his doctor appointment yesterday and the poor lil boy had to have his 5 shots! Two in each thigh and one oral! Plus we gave him Tylenol for the 1st time and he shudders at it! The oral shot was a new experience too b/c the liquid was cold and he's never taken anything cold before! He was such a good boy! After the nurse administered the first shot, Matt and I looked at each other and just wanted to take them for him! We now understand the meaning, "This is going to hurt me more than it's going to hurt you!" (Yea us! Welcome to parenthood!)

Isaac now weighs 10lbs 12oz and is 22 inches long! Here are a few pics of our growin boy!

'Okay Mommy! Enough pictures! Now please change me, I stinky!'

We hope you have a great weekend and enjoy the beautiful day that the Lord has made-Isaac and I have prayed for you today & just want you to know you are thought of.

BIG Smile

Monday morning

Isaac sleeping so peacefully in his cradle

And he's AWAKE!

After he woke up from his morning nap, I started talking to Isaac and he was cooing and making all of these sweet noises back at me and so I took my cell phone out (b/c camera batteries had died) and got 2 great snapshots...

My sweet boy!

This was taken last night before bed....He likes to move around alot & dance while listening to his rainforest music box!

After mommy's dr. appointment today

The Doctor said that i'm 'practically' back to normal and that my stiches are gone. Isaac was so good while I was being examined. All of the nurses and dr. Wilstrup thought he was adorable and looked to handsome in his hoodie =) He's getting soooo big!! He will be 6 weeks tomorrow (wow) and i'll post after his dr. visit on Thursday...Don't tell him but he's gotta get 5 shots =(

The Curse of the Plungie-bulb thingie

My poor baby is sooooo stuffy! The Doctor was explaining to me that babies breathe through their noses and often can become stuffy even if the smallest amount of fluids (formula from spitting up or snot) gets in their nasal passage. Poor Isaac! He sounds pathetic! I've had to use the aspirator a bunch and he is so good about it but, lets face it, who in their right mind enjoys something being stuck up their nose and sucked out?! Its enough to make him cough and fuss and it doesn't always seem like its effective...but we do it anyway because it helps...
Tonight we are going to try using the humidifier to hopefully relieve some of his stuffyness!

Isaac's thumb discovery

Isaac has discovered how to suck his thumb! It really is very adorable looking! He did it once and that was it...until...

This past Thursday, Isaac went to the Dr for his 4 week checkup! He now weighs 8lbs 14oz and is 21 7/8 inches long! My growin' boy! He also had to get a shot =( but was so good! He let out the longest, single cry (i was like, BREATHE child) accompanied by big crocodile tears and after that, was over it. I was in the middle of telling Dr. Theilhelm of Isaac's new thumb discovery when we heard smacking noises. We looked down and he had his thumb plopped in his mouth! Little show-off!

We have been totally enjoying each other! Wednesday, I took Isaac to Crane's Roost Park (my first time taking him out without Matt!) so he could have his first playdate with his friend Abbie! (check out their site, www.dexerstudios.com/family) We had a wonderful time during our picnic lunch by the fountain and walk around the lake! It was sunny and breezy; a perfect day!

We also visited Daddy at his work! Isaac was able to see the greenhouse for the first time! Daddy showed us all his plants and the girls who work there were excited to meet Isaac. We can't wait until Isaac can fit into the onesie Grandpa Larry and Grandma Chris made him!

On Saturday we spent the morning at Great-grandmommy and Great-grandaddy Johnson's river house! Mimi was there and all took turns holding and playing and taking pictures with Isaac. We had lunch and went for a walk down their street! The weather was gorgeous and we enjoyed our visit very much!

It was a wonderful week and we are so blessed to have so much!

gotta go...

Our Weekend

Friday, Matt and I had our first 'Night out without Isaac'! Grandma Chris and Grandpa Larry were kind enough to watch Isaac while Matt and I got some much needed time together! Matt came home with a bundle of beautiful orchids for me! It was such a sweet gesture! We had dinner at Carrabas--Their food is always fabulous! Matt got the Mahi (which was really good!) and I had the chicken. Then we went to Babies R Us and Target for a few things-- It was so nice to spend some alone time with each other.

We also had some visitors this weekend! Steph's mom and brother stopped by as well as Great-grandparents Billy & JoAnn and great-uncle Frankie!

On Sunday, we made another trip out to a park! This one was in Wekiva! It was nice to get some fresh air and the weather was beautiful! Isaac got some sun but was unaware of it as he slept the whole time =)

These are a few photos of our weekend...

My Chunky Monkey

We went to the Dr. yesterday for Isaac's weight check--They just wanted to make sure he was getting enough to eat. Last week they were a little worried...I had been having trouble filling him up AND pumping in order to store up for when i go back to work--That's A LOT of MILK! Isaac had been wanting to eat SO MUCH & cried unless I fed him often, I just assumed he wasn't getting enough. When we brought him home from the hospital, he would go an average 4hrs without complaining to eat and i made sure to fill him up when he was hungry...but lately it's more like an average of every 2-3hrs with some 'snacking' in between. We soon found out he's just a hungry man and luckily breastfeeding is like- 'supply and demand'- (given a few days for my body to adjust, if he needs it, it will come)

A good solid average for baby is gaining 1 ounce a day. Our last visit Isaac weighed 7lbs 8oz. Yesterday he weighed 8lbs 5oz!!!! THAT'S 13oz IN 6 DAYS!!! My son has eaten double whats normal! My lil porker! (No wonder mommy is sore!)

Dr. Theilhelm and Miss _____ (the nurse--I forgot her name...) were so funny! It was supposed to be a 'nurse checkup' but she was so excited she went and told Dr. Theilhelm who came out to visit & congratulate us. They were impressed that he gained so much in such a short time. I had been so frustrated thinking his 'feeding fussiness' was b/c i wasn't making enough milk but they simply explained that he was just honestly hungry more often and not to be surprised if he wants more and that its actually ok and normal to supplement with formula if need be. ITS ALL A LEARNING GAME! They were impressed with how he's growing and seemed to truly care about our family.

We are so blessed to have so much. I love my life & don't get me wrong, am thankful for how God has enriched my life but honestly its been hard. I have been dealing with some 'baby blues' issues and really struggling with just a overwhelming sense of invisibility...Its hard to explain what i'm feeling and i don't understand the hormonal imbalance going on but i just want to cry out, "I'm right here!" and after stepping back- no matter how colicky Isaac is or how utterly exhausted I am or how hopeless I feel, the Lord hasn't left me. He is there. Isaac eventually stops crying, the late evening arrives and sleep (no matter how small the amount) comes. Forgive me Lord. It's then I have to smile and marvel at how happy we are and how much we truly have and that my Jesus is right there--and has been--holding my hand the whole time.

Playtime!

Isaac slept so well last night and his gas wasn't too terrible! yea! I've been watching what I eat so it doesn't effect him so much and we've been giving him mylacon drops BEFORE he eats so they have a chance to work!

He is such a happy baby! LOVES to look around and watch the ceiling fans! He's gaining a lot of weight and always enjoys to eat! HE loves to STRETCH! He'd rather be warm than cool (that's our true Florida boy!) and fusses the SECOND his diaper is dirty. He doesn't like to be swaddled tight but doesn't mind wearing his hat. He loves to feel things with his hands (he's got some long fingers!) and purses his lips a lot. We love to rub his soft feet and curly toes (again, he takes after daddy's big feet! Our boy is gonna be tall) He hiccups and sneezes a lot (which we find absolutely adorable!) and can lift and hold his head up!Isaac is a great sleeper-- He's asleep right now in one of my arms as i'm attempting to type with one hand (with much difficulty)...He sleeps in his crib at night which Grandpa Larry MADE for him!! It was our Christmas present and is sooo BEAUTIFUL!! Grandpa Larry made it match our bedroom furnature! Make sure you see it when you visit us! Isaac loves sleeping on his side in it!

I have a wonderful breast pump and have introduced a bottle (about one, every other day) which at first he slugged down...its a lot easier getting milk out of a bottle!! But he soon realized to stop and slow down, after his cheeks were full, it was dribbling down his face and it was too much to swallow...He is very good at telling the difference between a bottle, a passie and mommy! You can't fool this child...

He loves his swing and i think will become an awesome volleyball enthusiast...thus the reason for the following pics...

Favorite SUPERBOWL commercials

We hate gas...

Sorry its been a while since our last post but we've been BUSY!! My poor lil boy isn't as quiet as he was the first week home from the hospital but we can blame stupid GAS for that! He can get so uncomfortable! I feel so bad for him---You can tell it hurts him; he pulls his legs up, grunts and gasps, just irritated...Poor lil thing! We have been giving him Mylacon drops and trying to make him as comfy as possible, moving him so he can get some relief...I'm calling a lactation specialist today to get some advice...Other than that, he is such a good boy--His 2 week Dr visit went well; he's growing and healthy! He is moving very well and is SO ALERT! He can lift his head and has pretty good control and has turned over from his belly to his back a few times! What a big boy!

We've enjoyed our visitors! Last Saturday, our good friends Brad and Nina drove from Tampa to see us! They brought us breakfast and their new lil puppy Rudy to to play with Lucy! She was so cute! It was so kind of them to take the time to come by!

Yesterday, Daddy took us to Cypress Grove Park to walk around and have a picnic lunch! It was so beautiful and relaxing! We had a wonderful time! Unfortunately, when we got there, we started to take pictures ( I had us all match and was looking forward to getting some family photos) the dumb camera WOULDN'T WORK! I don't want to talk about that though (urg)

Here are some pics of the boys around the house...
